Sarah Morabu

Sarah Morabu

Sarah Morabu, a Registered Nurse with extensive experience in case management and community health, is a proud co-founder of New Horizon Assisted Living. She first graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a bachelor’s in Public Health. For her internship, she competed in the prestigious Summer Public Health Scholars program at Columbia University. There she honed her skills in research and worked at the Harlem Health Promotion Center.

With a keen interest in furthering her studies and gaining experience, she worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) based in Palm Beach County, Florida. Her main responsibility was Communicable Disease contact investigation and follow up with patients throughout Palm Beach County.

Sarah later gained an interest in working directly with patients and decided to return to school to be a nurse. She completed her Master’s in Nursing with a concentration in Clinical Leadership from Seton Hall University in New Jersey. She has since utilized her skills to assist several assisted living facilities in creating and maintaining holistic life in the community for people living with disabilities. As our country and the world fights the effects of COVID-19, along with the health of the residents, Sarah’s most important task is to ensure that all residents and staff are not directly impacted by the virus.

Eli Amaya

Eli Amaya

Eli Amaya comes to New Horizon with over ten years of experience in public education. After attaining his bachelor’s degree, Eli went on to be the founding Social Studies Teacher at Infinity Institute in Jersey City, NJ. There he taught gifted and talented students allowing them to see the world through a different lens by differentiating instruction, a style of teaching that enabled students at different literacy levels and with different skillsets to be able to learn and understand.

With a desire to reach at-risk youth, Eli went on to become a Crisis Intervention Teacher. There, he worked directly with the principal, community groups, and police departments to ensure better outcomes for the most troubled youth groups. In his five years at the position, suspensions dropped drastically and in his last year, there were no expulsions. This was achieved through partnerships with colleagues and resources from the community. Most importantly, there was a noticeable social and emotional growth in the students as they were readily able to express themselves and solve problems; both skills that enabled them to avoid behaviors that put them at risk.

At New Horizon, Eli works with case managers and utilizes various community resources to meet the needs of the residents. He develops programs of interest to the residents, catering them to meet the needs of all individuals so they are empowered, and gain skills that will help them live more productive lives.
